On Saturday we had a monsoon. The next day, May 31, we had a frost delay. On June 1 we got a postcard from our hummingbirds, last seen sometime in mid-September. The card simply said, “Hola. In Mexico. Will return when it gets warmer. Buen dia.”

3 – AI stands for Answer Incognito

Google Gemini said he paraphrased “Ben Hogan’s Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf” to answer Bryson DeChambeau’s questions.

4 – Why not? They do it

Missed a 15-footer for double-bogey the other day and I stood there waving my right hand to the right as the ball veered hard left. My partner asked what I was doing. “Not sure, but I see PGA Tour guys do it all the time.”

GOLF COURSE PHOTO – You want simple, Jim McEvoy provides a photo that presents simple in all its glory. Playing with the Bay State Seniors at Wianno Golf Club on Cape Cod, McEvoy paid close attention to this tree that sits just to the right of No. 16 tee. “It depicts the pin placement on the sunken green 400 yards away,” wrote McEvoy, with whom I’ve had the pleasure of crossing paths on a couple of occasions. I only need one of these to feel a remarkable sense of security when I’m on a golf course – a windmill, a lighthouse, a ball-washer, or a PVC “barber-shop” pole set at 150 yards.

When asked, “Jimmy, what did you get on that hole?” the answer just came from my heart. “A major headache and a promise from my partner here that he’ll ask his neighbor’s 6-year-old daughter to be his partner before he ever asks me again.”
