Jim McCabe's front 9 musings

1 – Lefty hits it right

Phil winning the PIP makes you wonder how many times Eddie Haskell would have won best actor if he had the luxury of a People’s Choice Awards.

2 – Remember, it’s a global game

If you knew that Chan Kim sat 25 spots ahead of Rickie Fowler in this week’s Official World Golf Rankings, you’re 1-under par.

3 – He does get around

If you knew that Chan Kim plays under the America flag and his odyssey has brought him to Canada, Europe, Asia, and Japan – but rarely to the U.S. – then you are off to a sizzling start. Either that or you need to tear yourself away from the OWGR once in a while.

4 – I’ve got some news for you

Let’s start the year with some unfiltered honesty: You don’t hit the ball as far as you think you do.

5 – Multitasking is a challenge

Leaving it 15 feet below the hole, I’ve got. Jamming the putt 5 feet by? Unfortunately, I’ve got that, too.

6 – The more, the merrier

Agreed, the talent pool is deeper than ever on the PGA Tour. That is why it’s tough to embrace small-field tournaments.

7 – Big void in the cool department

Maui without Dustin Johnson ain’t Maui.

8 – It’s all so inexplicable

Australian Open tennis, yes. Australian Open golf, no. I’m sure there’s an explanation but by now, my explanation inbox is full.

9 – That’s a lot of letters

If you get in line for autographs and see Jazz Janewattananond coming, you best hand him a sleeve. He’ll need the room.
