Jim McCabe's front 9 musings

1 – Star struck

Wow, not even Tiger Woods was given the keys to the PGA Tour. Not like Rory McIlroy has, anyway.

2 – Ignore all calendars

Winter officially ends March 20. No so winter golf, which for many of us will continue for weeks beyond that.

3 – Then again, maybe it’s the 4th major

If you were to have a fifth major, it would be the Australian Open.

4 – Stand your ground

If players can stand in water to play a shot, they sure as heck can stand on a cart path to play a shot. No relief.

5 – Don’t pull a muscle patting yourself on the back

Insufferable, reporters who go on social media to exclaim that, “I asked . . . ” a question at a press conference. Excuse me, but isn’t that your job? We’re in a world of runaway egos.

6 – We know how this movie ends

Small fields, no cuts. That recipe earned World Golf Championships must-not-watch stature before mercifully they went out of business. So we’re going to do this again? Color me skeptical.

7 – Push, don’t pull

It’s probably not a two-shot penalty for pulling a push cart. But it should be.

8 – The bad . . .

Worst Tweeting, Major Champion Division: Dustin Johnson by a landslide. Tweets for tots.

9 – . . . and the good

On the other hand, Greg Chalmers Tweets as he putts. Beautifully. He’s worth a follow.
