Jim McCabe's front 9 musings . . .

1 – Is it a knee-jerk world or what?

Three or four weeks after predicting that Scottie Scheffler is incapable of winning because of his putting, it has been confirmed by golf pundits that Scottie Scheffler is unbeatable given the way he putts.

2 – Old and getting older

Confounding, but some folks remain enraptured by photos of golfers standing in water to play a shot, even though it happens probably a half-dozen times per round – especially in Florida. Apparently it doesn’t take much to amuse some, eh?

3 – That would be a prize

Of course, if ever a photograph surfaces of Ky Laffoon’s putter tied to the back of his car and dragged cross-country, now that will be amusing.

4 – What can he be thinking?

But, please, Scottie Scheffler – pretty please with a Texas-sized cherry on top – get as far away from pickleball as you can. Why? One word: Achilles.

5 – Cards everywhere

I’m not ready to say that there are more PGA Tour cards in circulation than AARP cards. Some people are suggesting it’s true, yes, but I’m still studying the data.

6 – Small tweak, large legend

She was Se Ri Pak in her playing days, now she’s Seri Pak as this week’s LPGA tournament host. All the letters are still there, just arranged differently. Rest assured, all the aura is still there, just layered thicker.

7 – Only a month?

March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month. I guess the other 11 months you’re OK to play those outrageous $50 automatics with air presses.

8 – Road trips that await

In search of new golf experiences? Michigan, my friend. Or Nebraska.

9 – Time flies . . . or does it stand still?

Reading that Matteo Manassero won his fifth DP World Tour tournament over the weekend was pleasing. That it was first win in more than 10 years was remarkable. That he’s still only 30 years is downright wild. Think he first win came on summer vacation from grade school.
